Whether you are taking the children out to enjoy the sunshine, catching up with friends over coffee or indulging in a spot of retail therapy, Camana Bay’s verdant courtyards, traffic-free streets and waterfront promenades are the ideal location in which to while away a few hours.
Camana Bay is constantly alive with people and the atmosphere is always buzzing with anticipation.
From its inception, Camana Bay has hosted some superb dining options and its reputation as Cayman’s hottest culinary destination is being cemented with the opening of a number of new establishments.
Karoo, a unique new restaurant in a prime position on the Crescent, offers tapas-style food with a variety of small plates and a menu of designer cocktails. Created by the same team that brought Abacus to the Town Centre, Karoo is an informal gathering spot. Ample outdoor seating means parents can relax with a drink while watching their children play in the fountains, and later, a lively after-work crowd indulges in refreshing pitchers of margaritas and Pimm’s.
For more of a local flavour, Champion House by the Bay opens in the coming months, offering classic Caribbean favourites overlooking the Harbour. Following in the tradition of its sister restaurants, Champion House I and II, Champion House by the Bay will serve local fare in a family-friendly setting.
With stores selling everything from bed linens and kitchen appliances to sunglasses, shoes and make-up, you can easily lose track of time browsing the goods on offer at Camana Bay.
Pandora, the fastest-growing jewellery brand in the United States and makers of the much-loved charm bracelets, was one of the newest stores to open in late 2011. An unparalleled choice of charms, jewellery and watches is available within the store or choose from a number of other successful brands in the adjacent The Mansion.
Due to open imminently is Caribbean Canvas Company, which offers cool island casuals and canvas totes. Apple-lovers will be excited to find the Cayman Mac Store also opening its doors in Camana Bay later this year.
For a break in between purchases, Ginger Lily is home to the ideal sweet refreshment: tart frozen yoghurt, available in a range of flavours, with a delicious choice of fresh fruits and gourmet toppings.
Alternatively, the luxury chocolate and confectionary shop, Cocoa Couture, is the place to head for that mid-afternoon sugar pick-me-up – or the sweetest gift for someone special.
It’s not all about indulgence at Camana Bay. The Town Centre caters to the health-conscious demographic as much as it does to shopaholics and gourmands.
The recently-opened Jessie’s Juices offers the ultimate in healthy snacks and juices that will nourish your body while delighting your taste buds. Fruit and vegetable juices and nutritious smoothies are all made to order and a selection of vegetarian, vegan and raw foods is also available. The shop’s location, right next to Anytime Fitness, will help keep health and fitness devotees away from temptation.
If your fitness routine needs a little shake-up, CrossFit Cayman will be opening at Camana Bay by late March 2012. The community-oriented fitness movement is taking the island by storm with its high intensity workouts, core strength building and nutritional plans. Pushing people at all fitness levels to test their limits, CrossFit brings out the elite athlete in us all.
Also coming soon to Camana Bay is the Bay Market, which will be Cayman’s first dedicated organic grocery store. Once you have stocked up on fruits and vegetables bursting with nutrients, head home and cook up a feast.
First though, you may want to take a peek at the luxury kitchenware, appliances and fun cooking gadgets at Bon Vivant. A double demonstration kitchen is the perfect platform for the friendly and informal cooking classes that take place weekly. Hosted by chefs from local restaurants and resorts, the cooking classes enable home cooks to sip a glass of wine or two while learning techniques and recipes from the pros – and, of course, sample their culinary creations.
Whether you are looking to dine, drink, shop or stay in shape, Camana Bay’s new merchants have something for everyone.
