The Review: Blogs

Back to: The Review of Books

With little time to surf the web (baby/store/projects/current home
reno),  I really appreciate a blog or online resource that has a clean,
easy-to-navigate format as well as guaranteed great content.

Lonny
Lonny is an online design and lifestyle magazine that makes me smile every time. It has a great blog for quick snapshots of room ideas and decorating tips as well as a full content monthly online magazine for more in depth profiles of specific projects and designers. I think the key to its success is the way that it assimilates fashion, art and even food into a complete design aesthetic. Best of all is the quality and thoughtfulness of staging and photography, which makes for a very satisfying scroll.

This is Glamorous
If you are looking for a hedonistic trip into the world of French, feminine, ultra lux design then this is the blog for you. Though this blog is one of my favorite indulgences, I visit it infrequently as it has much the same effect as eating a platter of petits fours. Features on design, lifestyle, travel, art and photography stem from their self-proclaimed mission to seek adventures in love and a daily search for beautiful things to share. The strength of this blog is in their exceptional curation; a passion for all things beautiful comes across in everything from the photos to the font.

Dezeen
For a more serious foray into the world of products and design, there is dezeen. This site is more akin to a news service for the design industry and has fantastic updates on everything from new architectural projects to the best design festivals and product launches. The international scope of this online resource ensures that its readers are plugged into the world of design at the highest level. For a quick snapshot into the world of dezeen there is also a dedicated Pinterest board with extremely well edited content and images.
