The house has a private graveyard which is the final resting place of the original owner, Capt. Spellman McLaughlin, and members of his family.
Capt. McLaughlin is said to have kept his coffin in the attic and taken it down once a year to try it for size.
The man on the Brac with the longest arms dug the post holes for the foundation stilts as there were no backhoes in the 1920s
The house was built completely by hand.
