Here, she shares her top tips on accessory choices with InsideOut.

TOP 10 MUST-HAVE HOME ACCESSORIES

1. Statement lighting – A sculptural table lamp or an oversized pendant can be a game-changer.

2. Throw pillows – Instant cosy factor. Mix textures, colours, and patterns for a curated look.

3. Art and wall décor – Whether it’s a gallery wall or a giant canvas, go for pieces that make you smile.

4. Books – A home without books is like a meal without seasoning; flat and forgettable.

5. Mirrors – They bounce light, make rooms look bigger, and add instant glam.

6. Plants and greenery – More on this below, but trust me, a room without plants is missing life.

7. Decorative trays – For corralling everything from candles to cocktail shakers.

8. Scent (candles, diffusers or incense) – Because a home should smell as good as it looks.

9. Cosy throws – Drape them over a sofa or chair for that effortlessly inviting look.

10. Unique personal pieces – A quirky sculpture, a flea market find, or something from your travels; it’s what makes your space yours.

HOW TO CHOOSE AND STYLE ACCESSORIES LIKE A PROFESSIONAL

Accessories should feel intentional, not like you just grabbed a bunch of stuff and hoped for the best.

Here’s how to style like a pro:

• Match the home’s vibe – If your home is sleek and modern, go for minimalist accessories. If it’s more eclectic, mix in some vintage pieces and bold colours.

• Think about function – A kitchen needs beautiful yet useful accessories (think wooden cutting boards and ceramic canisters), while a bookshelf should have a mix of books, art, and sculptural objects.

• Balance and scale – Group items in odd numbers (three is the magic number), and mix heights and textures to create visual interest.

• Layering is key – Stack books, lean artwork, place objects in front of others; this is what makes a space feel dynamic rather than flat.

THE ROLE OF PLANTS IN A ROOM

Plants are the unsung heroes of interior design. They add texture, colour, and a sense of calm. They also literally clean the air, so they’re making your home look good and feel good.

Go for a mix: a big statement plant (hello, fiddle leaf fig), smaller tabletop greenery, and maybe some trailing vines for a bookshelf moment.

If you struggle to keep plants alive, there are some very convincing faux options out there. No shame in that game.

LESS IS MORE? IN SOME SPACES, YES

Not every space needs to be packed with accessories. Some areas shine with a more minimalist approach:

• Entryways – Keep it functional: a console table, a mirror, a bowl for keys. No need to overdo it.

• Bathrooms – Less clutter, more spa vibes. Candles, nice hand soap, and a chic tray are all you need.

• Dining tables – A simple centrepiece (like a bowl of fruit or a stunning vase) beats a cluttered look.

• Tiny rooms – If a space is small, don’t crowd it with too many extras. Let the design breathe.
