Seafire’s Catboat

KimptonThe Kimpton Seafire Resort + Spa, due to open in November, has chosen to use a Cayman Catboat as the centerpiece of the lobby. Kimpton Seafire and The Residences at Seafire will imbue the property with a whimsical sense of place. The design team was inspired by Cayman’s seafaring heritage and found the graceful curves of the catboat to be the perfect design focal point. The recently restored Blew Bayou, one of the few traditional catboats left on island, will be reincarnated as a sculptural installation. Suspended from the ceiling, the boat will float above guests and residents – skimming the air as if floating on water.
