A glimpse into the Seafire guestrooms
The Kimpton Seafire Resort and Spa, developed and designed by Dart Real Estate, incorporates “rustic-yet-polished Caribbean,” as well as specifically Caymanian and British colonial, aesthetics. Bright colors contrast against weathered natural materials, and the interiors showcase the talents of Dayna Lee and Ted Berner, principal designers of Los Angeles’ Powerstrip Studio, and Mark Sopp of San Francisco’s SB Architects in collaboration with Ave Bradley, Kimpton’s Global SVP Design & Creative Director. Regarding the guestroom design, Lee and Berner explain, “We travel a lot to various islands and we wanted to create a design for the Seafire Resort and Spa guestrooms that was unique not only to the island, but also unique to seaside hotels the world over. While spending time on Grand Cayman, we were moved by the pink blossoms of cymbidium orchids and red Royal Poinciana layered on white sand.” As such, the design team utilized an island palette inspired by indigenous Cayman tropical blooms, with red and fuchsia tones on sand and bark hues, a welcome design departure from the turquoise blue palette so often seen in coastal properties.
